Hawaii
We lived in Hawaii for 4 years and I have to say that it was not the best place to live. There are far too many people for the size of the place. The traffic is bad all the time where the average commute is at least an hour to go 15 miles during rush hour. The houses on Oahu are small with no yard, no air conditioning and very expensive. And there is a lot of crime. We decided to live on base and although it has many downfalls with all the regulations and people you have to put up with I think I stayed sane by not having to drive through the traffic everyday. We have a small 4 bedroom with central air conditioning. We did not have enough storage so we bought a metal storage shed for the back yard. In the back yard we had a small orange tree, a large palm tree, 3 papaya tree's, 2 figs, several banana trees and several flowering trees. The next door neighbor has a lime tree. We tried to find things to do that do not involve places where tourist go. We went camping in places that require 4 wheel drive and permits. We went hiking and to hidden beaches. We had a friend who lives in Ewe Beach (pronounced EVA) that lives about 17 miles from our house. It usually takes an hour or more to get there but they live right on the beach. So we went there or to the military beach when we want to play in the water. We had fun and traveled to some of the other islands. We went to the big island and walked on lava fields and felt the steam come out of the ground. We hiked through lava tubes and swam in a lagoon that had warm water coming out of the ground. Kim and I went back in December and rented a 4 wheel drive to go up to the 13,995 foot top of Mt Kilua and played in the snow. Hawaii is a great place to visit.

This is a funny story. The guy in the picture is our next door neighbor Freddy. He was standing in this little cave like area so he would not get wet whil Kim and his wife Sharon took a picture. I climbed up over the rock climbed down walked about 20 feet then climbed up this lone rock by itself. It was dry and was about 20 feet above the water. If you look in the center of the picture near the top you can just barely see me as this huge wave hit and drenched me.

My new project is building a Recumbent bike out of 2 old bikes (long story). While taking a bike apart I was surprised to find Gecko eggs inside.

When I went to pick them up to remove them one of them hatched. You can just see to baby to the right

He is now on top of the other eggs

Kim holding the new addition to the family. We let him go in a tree and I hope he does well.
